Eleven objects, three rooms.

Everything here was placed in the same apartment on the same evening — the mantel, the table, the floor under the tree.

Four o'clock

The light goes early. These are for after.

Two objects that do nothing all afternoon and then, at the hour the lamps come on, do the whole room.

3:50 pm · daylight5:10 pm · lit

Drag the sun.

The Flurry — snowflake sphere tealight lantern, lit, throwing snowflake shadows across the wall The Flurry

On the side table, unlit. A pale, intricate object; you would not look twice. Lit. The snowflakes go up the wall, and none of them repeat.

The Grove — ring of snowy stone pines around a lit tealight on a living-room table, tree behind The Grove

A ring of white trees on the coffee table, waiting. One tealight, and the forest is on the ceiling.

Under the tree

The small things, laid out.

Four gifts on kraft and linen. Touch a point.

    Closer

Three surfaces you can almost feel.

Sugar gloss, wool, frost. Move the loupe.

The Peppermint, Candy — glossy red-and-white wrapped-sweet wax candle on a wooden kitchen counter Look closer

    Sugar gloss

Wax, finished hard enough to read as candy until the wick gives it away.

The Sweets — felted wool peppermints and caramels on kraft paper with red-and-white twine Look closer

    Wool

Felted by hand, slightly uneven, a little larger than life.

The Pinecone — snow-dusted stone pinecone candle on a kitchen sill, brownstones in the snow outside Look closer

    Frost on stone

The snow is cast with the cone; it does not melt.

    Give the wait

    A gift that arrives twice.

Every object in Snowfall is made to order, so none of them can be under the tree on the morning. The certificate can. The object follows when its edition is made — numbered, signed, crated.

    1. 1

      Reserve the object

Any object in Snowfall, as a First Edition pre-order. The edition opens, reaches its minimum by the closing date, and goes into production.

    2. 2

      Give the certificate

Fill in the names on the certificate page and print it, or send the link. On the morning, it goes under the tree.

    3. 3

      The object follows

When its edition is made — numbered, signed, crated and insured. No date is promised before the edition exists.

Reserve the object first; then fill in the certificate and print it, or send the link. If the edition does not reach its minimum by the closing date, the reservation is refunded in full.

    How a First Edition happens

Four steps up to the door.

Nothing is made that no one has asked for. The wait is part of the object.

    1. The edition opens

Each object opens for pre-order with a closing date and a minimum number of orders.

    2. The minimum is reached

Production begins, and each object is made to order, in sequence. If the minimum is not reached by the closing date, every pre-order is refunded in full.

    3. Numbered and signed

Every object in the edition carries its number and signature before it leaves the studio.

    4. Arrives after the snow

Crated and insured for the journey. No date is promised before the edition exists.

    Held until the thaw.
